Use Your Voice Workshop

  • Global Exchange 2017 Mission Street San Francisco, CA, 94110 United States

Join Good 'Ol Girls on April 20 from 6-8:30pm for this exciting workshop back by popular demand.

*Use Your Voice: An Empowering Workshop for Women*
*By Rose Aguilar, host of Your Call on KALW 91.7 FM*

We need your voice. What you do, what you're passionate about, and what you believe in matters. The media shape the way we perceive the world, crucial issues, ourselves, and each other. We must be a central part of that narrative.

In this workshop, we will focus on:
*Speaking and writing with confidence, authority, and expertise
*Getting your message out in an engaging and effective way
*Promoting your work with pride and confidence
*The power of telling our stories

You will walk away with:
*Renewed confidence, encouragement, and inspiration
*A concrete set of goals
*Tools to deal with writer's block, conflict, and self-doubt
*New insights and perspectives on the power of finding and using our voices

Why is this needed? Because women make up 51% of the population, but our voices are missing in the national dialog.

Rose Aguilar hosts Your Call, a daily call-in public affairs radio show on KALW 91.7 FM in San Francisco. She also write op-eds for Al Jazeera English and is working on a book about older women activists. In the mid-late 90s, she was the only female on staff at CNET Radio, where she covered technology's impact on society and privacy issues. She has several stories to share about the gender disparities that she sees and experiences on a regular basis.
